Barnet Poetry Appreciation Group. We meet on a regular basis to read and discuss published poetry. Sometimes we look at the work of an individual poet, and at other times there is a particular theme to the meeting and everyone brings a poem relating to it. Occasionally outside speakers are invited to the group – a recent one was the poet Lorraine Mariner. Also some members of the group have an in depth knowledge of certain poets – at our October meeting Michael gave a talk on W H Auden.
For further information about the poetry group contact webmaster@newbarnetquakers.org.uk and I can put you in touch with the organisers.
The group meets on the second Saturday in each month from 2.30pm to 4.45pm, excluding July and August. The cost is £5 (or £6 when there is an outside guest speaker), to include tea and cakes.
The next few dates are:

  • May 11th 2024: Michael King to present on Walter de la Mare
  • June 8th 2024: Lorraine Mariner, published poet, is returning to the group
